Following Folio's 10-week In-depth exploration of Victor Hugo's masterpiece, Les Miserables, our interpet readers venture to compare and contrast Les Miserables with Charles Dickens' masterful novel A Tale of Two Cities. As Dickens' most well known work of historical fiction, it is claimed to be one of the best selling novels of all time.
Charles Dickens wrote only two historical novels; the marvelous but little known Barnaby Rudge: A Tale of the Riots of Eighty, set during the Gordon Riots of 1780 and the extraordinary A Tale of Two Cities set in Paris and London before and during the French Revolution of 1789.
Readers who have completed our in-depth discussion or read Les Miserables are invited join us for a four week discussion of A Tale of Two Cities in exploration of the parallels between the two novels.
